Plantains are a little bigger than bananas, have less
natural sugar and are not usually eaten raw.
Plantains grow in tropical areas. They are popular
in East and West Africa, South and Central America,
the Caribbean and South East Asia.
Plantains are a great source of fiber,
vitamins A and C.
Our plantain crisps are cooked in vegetable oil, dried and lightly salted.
We have our “Naturally Sweet” version available for sale, but more flavors are coming!
Wholesome. Natural. Simple Ingredients
“Chakula” means food in Swahili. “Chaku” is a short form, which honors the company’s pan-African roots.
The Brand: Nikki grew up eating high quality Ghanaian snacks in the U.S. and Ghana. When she first moved to South Africa in 2013 she noticed they weren’t available. She wants to bring Ghanaian snacks to RSA and other parts of the world, and promote the export of high quality African food products.
Nikki’s Plantain Crisps is the first of many products to go to market. Stay tuned!
